Week 12: Work Log- Nie

November 19, 2011 Leave a comment

This report is regarding the work that I have done in the week from 11/14 to 11/18and what I am working on for the next week in SLU tailgating organization.

What I have done in this week is the proofreading of the pitch letter for Pappy’s and also added some details on it. All the details are corresponding with what Pappy’s can provide us on tailgate. So with the detail we can plan the setup of tailgate better. I have also did research online about other tailgate events since we are the first tailgate organization in SLU which means we don’t have any  previous experience to refer. I have never been to any tailgate party so the researches really give me a sense about how it likes.

The work I need to do in the upcoming week is to continuous to work on the layout of tailgating event. The whole team is going to work on this together.

Hastings, Work Log Nov 12-18

To: Dr. Rivers

From: Thom Hastings

Subject: Weekly Work Log

This work log summarizes the progress that I have made since November 12th toward completing the feasibility report and other team goals and deadlines such as the Midterm Project Report rewrite.

So far, our team has made solid and consistent progress. All of the elements of our final feasibility report have current working drafts. Furthermore, the team is preparing for oral reports and postmortems that will be assigned in the coming few weeks. One of the final elements to our feasibility report will be a marketing strategy, which will complement the total investment, interior design, as well as licensing and legal requirements.

I attended our team meeting at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 16th during which I turned in completed surveys to Li for use in his research for our team’s marketing strategy. Prior, I read the article on Institutional Critique provided via e-mail by Dr. Rivers. During class, also on November 16th, I learned how Organizational Rhetoric and Institutional Critique relate to the documentary “Freakonomics.” Upon getting our Midterm Project Report back, it became clear that a revision is necessary. The document had issues with template, organization, flow, and alignment.

We have arranged a team meeting for this upcoming Tuesday, November 22nd. We will meet during the afternoon as a team to collectively work on the necessary revision of our Midterm Project Report. By Wendsday, November 23rd we intend to submit a document that is more cohesive and aligned.

Subject: Weekly record of individual progress

This work log is for the week of November 14th to November 18th.

This week in the hookah bar organization, we met up at our regular meeting time and discussed the marketing survey. We didn’t get our 25 submissions from the whole group so we are going to postpone our deadline for the survey. I put the questions in a group message on Facebook last weekend to try to get submissions from some of my friends. Only three people responded back to me by Wednesday and only one actually answered all of the questions. I got some feedback about one question in particular, the household income. I talked to Li about it since he is in charge of the survey research. Instead of coming up with another question or changing the actual survey we decided that we can use the income question if people decide to answer it, if not we will not stress that part of the survey. Every school or job doesn’t ask about race or income, so I don’t think it will make or break the project. This Thanksgiving week I will take advantage of the holidays and get some family members to help out and give us some responses. I should have all of my five and maybe more by the end of this week. For next week I will collaborate with the group so we can edit our midterm project report. We have a lot to reconfigure as far as the structure of our document goes, so it should not be too much for us to come together and reproduce a cleaner report. We will be working on it together on GoogleDocs. We have a meeting on Tuesday at 3:30 to finish up our editing and proofread as a group before we turn in the document by Wednesday.

Week 12: Work Log – Bhoffstetter

November 18, 2011 Leave a comment

The report below lists the work that I have completed and work ongoing for SLU tailgate in the week of 11/11 to 11/18.

This week my goal was to finish the jimmy johns pitch letter.  I have completed the letter and am in the process of proof reading it.  Now that all the pitch letters have been completed, I am going to start working on the layout of the tailgate.  My hope is to have this in draft form by next class in order for the group to add their input.  The layout is going to need to be researched to find the correct items for the tailgate.  Additionally, i will have to discuss with my group what things we will have to have to make the tailgate successful.

The second thing is we decided we will revise the midterm report together, in next Tuesday night and the entire team member will attend it.

In addition we also trying to figure out what else we should do be for the final since we are little bit ahead of our plan, so after we will get the feasibility report done during the thanksgiving and possibly have a meeting after the break.

During this week what I did was ask my friends to do the survey for the hookah bar. Then I used the data, which collected by me and my teammates collected from the survey to finish the marketing paper. So far everything is good, hopefully I can finish marketing paper, this weekend, or just before the thanksgiving, since I will be really busy, I do not want to spend too much extra time on the paper anymore.

In addition I am also working for the team blog this week.

I think this is all what I did this week.

To: Dr. Rivers

From: Ali Khan

Subject: Individual weekly contribution

This weekly report highlights the contribution I personally made to the Hookah Bar organization during the week of November 10th through the 16th.

We as a group have successfully managed to complete all our tasks up till now. This past week I managed to catch up on most of the readings assigned for class. I read a couple of articles that were assigned by the professor, in class and via email.

In addition I completed a survey for the Hookah Bar that will be a resource for the success of our marketing strategy. I also asked a few other people to take the survey. The more people we can ask, the better it is.

We got the Mid Term Project Report back on Wednesday. The team plans to do revisions to the document and submit it before Wednesday. There is a group meeting at 4 pm on Tuesday. We all plan to work together on the revision.

Week 12: Individual Work Log – Kubik

November 18, 2011 Leave a comment

For the 12 week of the SLU Organization Tailgate project, I concentrated on beginning to draft our final proposal to SLU.  I have begun to organization our documents and information each team member has gathered over the duration of our project and organizing the information in a way that will be beneficial to cerate our final draft.  I have taken all the proposals that we created for the local businesses and draw out some of the points that I believe are most important for us to concentrate on.  This will help us by allowing the group to see what I value as important information and will allow the group to have a starting point to rework the presentation to create one that we all agree coincides with what we, as a team, believe the presentation should look like.

My other main task for the week was beginning to make the corrections to our midterm report.  The report in and of itself was complete, but it lacked depth on some of the main points.  Therefore, I have begun to delve deeper into these points and more descriptively outline them in our document.

For next week, I will complete the necessary changes in our midterm report, which will allow our team to better our grade and have a greater understanding of what needs to be completed before the end of the semester.

Week 12: SLU Tailgate Team Work Log

November 18, 2011 Leave a comment

During the 12th week of the SLU Organization Tailgating project, the team worked on further our communication with our local businesses and charities.

Barret and Nie kept up with their correspondences with Humphrey’s, Jimmy Johns, and Pappy’s.  They have been working to get exact details of what each business can provide for us so that we can effectively plan the tailgate.  This will help us gain a better knowledge of the mapping of the tailgate itself and allow us to finalize any other necessary items we may need to obtain.  Alex continued his contact with the Humane Society.  He worked with them to ensure that we could obtain a representative from the Humane Society, as well as, he is attempting to see if there is a possibility to get animals at the event.  This is help us greatly by appealing to people emotions and hopefully make them donate more money.  Brian worked on more flyers for the group to post around SLU’s campus.  These flyers are going to help get the word out about the tailgate and hopefully help us get a better turn out at the event.

The team worked extremely hard this week and everyone has been putting forth good effort to complete the project on time.  For next time, the team will continue to follow the task schedule and will revise the midterm report.
