Saint Louis University Tailgating Organization
Saint Louis University Tailgating Organization’s mission is to provide charitable donations to various charities around the St. Louis area, to serve as Saint Louis Universities premier tailgating event, and to provide a safe and fun environment to all people.
At all major universities around the United States tailgating can be found at the sporting events. As the Saint Louis University Tailgating organization, we will provide this service for the students of SLU and raise money for local charities in St. Louis to help the community. The event itself is still in the developmental stages and still needs to develop standing relationships with SLU, other SLU organizations, and local businesses around SLU.
The Saint Louis University Tailgating Organization is still very young in it’s development. I came up with the organization after attending a tailgate myself. I am an accounting and finance major in the John Cook School of Business at SLU and I’m in the fourth year of a five year CPA program. I was born and raised in St. Louis and I have been a fan of Billikens basketball for my entire life.
The Business Concept
The concept of my plan is to implement a tailgating party before select Saturday SLU basketball games that will be open for anyone to attend. The tailgates will feature local cuisine and will have various games and activities for people to take part in. The organization will be a group of SLU students that will collaborate together as a team to get local investors and advertisers for the events. We will work together to drive local businesses into our events and to research various charities that we deem suitable for a donation from our events profits.
SLU recently opened a brand new basketball stadium that seats approximately 12,000 people and is located on SLU’s campus. Therefore, there is an untapped market of students that would be able to come these tailgates that have no other tailgating options. There is also a season ticket following of SLU alumni and people that live in St. Louis that do not have another tailgating option for SLU basketball games.
Is anyone good at communicating with people? In your work with the Saint Louis University Tailgating team, you will get the opportunity to take your own ideas and put them down on paper or over the Internet for thousands to see. Your final work will be used to create flyers that will be put up all of the school as well as work with SLU’s webpage to place ads on their website. The job is a great opportunity to express yourself in a real hands on way and will allow you to boost your portfolio for future employment.
